Sebastião Salgado is one of the greatest figures of modern photography, placing human issues and the world’s upheavals at the heart of his projects. This book presents two aspects of his work, through a selection of over 400 prints held in the collection of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie. A journey through the first 25 years of a committed photographer confronted by the fury and torment of humanity. This is followed by his vision of the world of origins through the Genesis project, a homage to the beauty and fragility of our planet, still untouched from the madness of mankind, and which it is vital to preserve. This catalog accompanies the artist’s exhibition at Les Franciscaines, Deauville, France.
